Evening all,

The nears side rear door on my disco td5 won't unlock or open.
I have been led to believe the door actuator has failed.
Anyone any ideas on the best way to get it open?

Thanks

Paul

Have you got the child lock engaged on the side that does not open my chance?

Cheers

Does the door lock tab pop up when you press unlock on the fob or the dash central locking button.

Cheers

No the tab doesn't pop up, I've tried pulling it up but it just drops straight back down.
I'm thinking I'm going to have to take the door card of but looks kind of tricky with the door closed

Yes, does sound like your door actuator is fubarred,

The only other thing it could be is that the magical electrical stuff is nto getting to the actuator. If you have a copy of rave you could find the electrical diagram for it and see if you can add a supply to see if that will "open" the lock, just in case it is a broken wire or output from the Brains..

Cheers

Here are the wiring diagrams for an 03 MY central locking system.

Cheers neilly,

I have downloaded rave but haven't managed to open it on the computer yet.

I will do some investigations tomorrow and let you know how I get on.

have you tried repeatedly pressing your fob button , while pulling up on the door lock button , as i have had the same prob every now and then on my nearside rear door , and have found this to work for me ,

As @Vanmancan says,

It could be a slow actuator, but if it is then you should hear it trying to work. Mine sometimes takes 3 hits on the fob to unlock the NS RR door, but you can hear and see it trying to work. Defo worth trying it.

Cheers
