I have finally managed to remove the drivers door handle and have the STC3064G door handle cam kit. I know this has been discussed before but how do you actually remove the old cam from the handle - it's seems to be held in place by a hollow pin but how do you slide the pin out.
My best idea so far is very carefully with a dremel - cut away the old parts but there must be a better way.
Thanks very much

I cut the plastic cam away and then carefully removed the pin with side cutters, as I could only access the pin from one end of the hole.

My own door handle is pretty stiff, can someone point me in the direction of the up-grade repair item mentioned in first post?

Thanks

P

Screw in a suitable tap and carefully pull it out.

Ok, but within the handle mechanism itself?

As far as i am aware only thing that wears is the cam latch. If you have the kit to replace that, it should be fairly straight forward as long as you don't break anything.

I went about doing the cam kit fitting. However on removing the door handle I snapped off the door lock tab. This part is not available as a spare and as replacement handles are scarce and expensive - sh or new.
I set about making a replacement part,
I rounded the end of the barrel stem where the tab was, Then I drilled an M12 nut with a 12mm drill. I then welded a a steel tab to the nut. This fits over the rounded stem and is cross drilled to take a roll pin or steel pin.
It worked OK for me anyway.

Photos added, to make it easier understood.
