......You build a job up in your mind to be an absolute bitch, but when it comes to actually doing it, it all goes easily without a hitch?

Case in point: Today I replaced the steering drop arm on my 110. Bought some thin cutting discs expecting to have to cut the fooker off, but easily undid the big nut, gave the arm a single whack with a hammer, and it fell off! Whole job took about 15 mins :D

But, as is usual when this happens, a job that should be quick and easy becomes a bit of a ball ache. Went to change the fuel filter, and couldn't budge it for love nor money. Ended up having to get a pair of stilsons on the bloody thing

ohh, one of my fav tools them,
get used for all sorts of work.
I buy `em buy the boxfull :)

tis always the way - the 2 minute jobs take hours and the jobs you expect to take hours end up taking minutes!

And what about 'last nut syndrome'? I recently replaced the manifold gasket on my 300 tdi. I had read al sorts of horror stories about seized and snapped bolts/studs, etc, so was almost laughing when mine all more or less fell out. Until I got to the last one! The most inaccessible one in the centre, at the bottom of the exhaust manifold. Then it was the land rovers turn to laugh. It came out with a few curses, prayers and liberal doses of my special penetration juice, but it had me sweating for a bit. Revenge of the land rover!

i had the exact same thing today taking the front bumper off my series 3 and 2 bolts just snapped one nicely 1 right at the top of the bolt could not be worse if it tried and now got a cold chisel trying to snap the bottom off and wil draw the rest out with a magnet but it takes how long to undue a bolt this bluddy thing is taking ages yet any job i think will be a bugger just goes really easily
