Hi;

Just order a Freelander 2 and have a 9 Year Old Ridgeback. He just about gets in and out of my old car (Focus Saloon) but there is no way he's gonna get in and out of the Landy.

He's not gonna be allowed on the back seats so he's resigned to the boot.

Anyone offer any solution like Dog Ramps (he can't jump as well as he used to because of an old injury). Also any dog ideas for putting dogs in the boot.

I've trained my bitch to put her two front paws up at the boot and then I give her rear end a lifting hand up.

Dog ramp every time - I have a Solvit telescopic ramp - bottom part slides into and out of the top and locks. Made of heavy duty hard plastic with a carpet mat on the ramp face. For a Ridgeback you`ll need a fairly heavy duty one - mine takes a (big) Vizsla and two springers and is easy to use on your own even holding three dogs on leads. I`d say the angle down from the back of my Defender at nearly full extension is about 35 to 40 degrees off the vertical and the dogs have no problem at all with it.
i looked around and figured that folding ramps were likely to be less robust than telescopic, and I bought mine off a guy who used it for a 42kg Samoyed into and out of a Disco 2 and had no problems.

I have just retread my reply and I do not know what came over me to say that we loved our big German Shepard very much but for the life of me he was too big and heavy to pick up when he was alive we did have him weighed once and he was 12 stone
