have been doing a lot of reading up on waterproofing the v8

one thing seems to be a big prob is not neccesarily water getting into the dizzy,but condensation being formed inside

one guy has done to his is to run a piece of tubing similar to the type used for axle breathers from the inside of the cab and then into the dizzy and sealed using a grommit

he then run another piece from the dizzy to the air filter intake
his reasoning is that warm air is drawn from the cab into the dizzy making it difficult for condensation to form

so does it sound like bollicks or is it maybe one of those rare things that will actually work?

Condensation ONLY forms when the water vapour contained in the air Condenses out ON A COLD SURFACE...

You be far better Wrappin up THE OUTSIDE of the Dizzy with some HEATPROOF material (Like a bit of Bonnet insulation) .. Lump of insulation & 2 rubber bands ...SORTED!!!

THAT wouls stop the Condensation forming in the first place ...

in the old days foooking hell this will show my age] i use to put a merrygolg over the dissy cap jut cut the end off the fingers. to keep the damp out..

if your offroading and wading then this may be required but if you just draiving it daily a moder silicon coated lucas rotor arm will avoid condensation.

the former is to prevent condensation when the dizzy is waterproofed for wading.

YES! it works and is done often along with rtv silicone and an 8 fingered marigold. another note is a shield the dizzy and coil as best you can. the crank pully throws up plenty of water right where you don't want it! Also just new good components do far better than older lecky stuff.

condensation is a killer for the V8 if you hit water your nice warm engine gets splashed and condensation forms inside the dizzy cap a small ammount can be enough to seriously lose power or kill your engine. A constant vacume almost iliminates the condensation forming and any that does is instantly drawn out one of many old comp safari tricks.

so if you wading do it!

If you only drive on the road then a silicon coated rotor arm will do.
