What you need is an old gas powered Dell like mine it connects every time no problem. My ACER with the USB to serial connector won't work.

i had a problem with this only i could not get the driver for the cable anyway got the cable driver and changed it to com port 1 and works fine everytime im running vista though not sure if makes a diff but said to in the instructions i got with the software

Have you installed the driver for it (I know silly thing to ask!)

If you then go into system (Or equiv) then into ports, then advanced and change to port 1. I think these onlyy run on Port 1. I had to do it with my windows 7 laptop (kept reading the instructions on how to change port) and then it worked:D Most XP applications can be run on vista and 7 as they run in compatyibility mode (Sounds like I know what I'm on about don't it!)

None of my XP software would run reliably on Vista in compatability mode that includes my Larousse English French dictionary, my scanner and my printer. New drivers needed for the latter 2, but not available. Microsofts answer? Buy new! It was cheaper to go back to XP. According to some computer science guy on TV Windows 7 is just Vista with some of the bugs removed

Moring Ray,

Firstly ..More mis types on my part .. Antone (Hit the "T" instead of the "Y" should read "ANYONE")

I was over at my mates last nite .. we think its a duff cable ...loaded up the "Drivers" for the cable & NO GO!!.....Thought it was my lappy so tried it on his ... loaded up the drivers ..NO GO

PLAN A

I can upload & Run "Blind" the EAS softwear .. but need the Serial to USB adaptor cable to connect it up ... THATS where it all goes to rat****!! it won't have the cable or cable drivers NO WAY!!!!

PLAN B

use an old lappy WITH a serial port...... Thats running XP Pro GOOD NEWS but its so old it aint got Service pack 2 on it ( I need that for .net frameworks) ... tried to load Service pack 2 but the memory is soooo small it won't load up.

PLAN C

Reformat old lappy with disc of XP Pro including service pack 2 got as far as "Please Enter Key" ..... I can't find it (It was an old "Work" lappy so they probs have it!!!

PLAN D

SCREW THE LOT!! ... go sit in the garden with a few beers !!!!!

NOTE THE MEMBERS

PLAN D ...... WAS VERY SUCESSFUL!!!!!!
