Hi does anybody know if you can get a convertion flywheel for a p38

If you mean a solid flywheel to replace the DMF, it's not a good idea, likely to cause crankshaft failure due to the lack of torsional vibration damping. There have been several reports of this happening on the tdci Transit engine when solid flywheels have been substituted for the DMF. It's reasonable to assume that the risk of failure would be much greater on an in line six:eek:

theoretically perhaps, but in the real world not so

that's why Rakeway are selling so many of the TD5 conversion kits to peeps disgruntled with numerous DMF failures

Are you sure these failures are due to fitting a replacement solid flywheel or the welding up (out of balance) of the DMF. All the torsional vibration damping required is taken care of by the springs in the clutch spinner plate. As is has been for very many years before LUK invented the abortion that is the DMF. The DMF is designed to smooth out the power flow and prevent transmission damage at low RPM in high gears. With the engine spinning freely (being in the correct gear) a solid flywheel should make no difference to torsional vibration. I am amazed that manufacturers still use this ridiculous system.

So they fitted the DMF and designed a weaker crank to use it with. How the hell can a mouth organ snap a crank?:D:D:D:D
