Need a new dizzy cap and rotor arm, for my disco 1, 3.9 v8 auto,
is it best to go genuine or are the aftermarket ones ok ?
How much ? Any advice welcome !

Must admit people do reckon that gen parts are better. And I would agree most of the way.
Been using a halfords rotor arm and cap (couldnt get hold of gen that day). Done 16,000 since fitting and still going.
Had bosch before and no problems whatsoever with that either.

It was all gud till i went down a drop, small bit of water, then it wouldnt idle,
Dried out now runs ok, but misses a little in the mornings, il have a look at prices and go from there

there is a difference between lucas and landrover-lucas there is alot in the quality difference!

Go genuine landrover, same for leads that or magnecor

ahhh.

that explains why the rotor arm i got was stamped lucas and looked very genuine, and the lucas cap i got came in a lucas box but was not stamped lucas, and looked pretty damn similar to all the other patterns i have seen. come to think about it, the box was too new, and of too modern/cheap a manufacturing process for it to be oldskool lucas.

annoyingly:

1. it cost nearly as much as the landrover part would have done

2. the landrover parts man couldnt tell me what brand he was going to supply me with, and recommended i get an aftermarket one as they are the same.

havent had any problems though yet really.

MUST get one from landrover next time i need a change though.

I purchased genuine leads and a cap two years ago, I used the leads but not the cap STC8368 cost £26.14 its still in the LR box on the garage shelf.
If i could sell it at that price I would, may stick it on eBay.
