Had the crypton diagnostic bloke out he reckons its the distributer he said its sparking but all out of time and sync? could this be the reason she wont fire up.

Some more info would be useful.

What was the problem to have a diagnostic bloke out?? What checks/tests have been done.

I note from your sig it's a 3.5V8 - I assume it will be running 14CUX ECU and DLM8 Dizzy. As a complete stab in the dark I would suggest replace dizzy cap and leads and a rotor arm wouldn't hurt (PLEASE get genuine LUCAS parts). Check ignition amplifier, pick up air gap and resistance. Check static ignition timing.

Have you done a search in the V8 and Range Rover sections - lots and lots of info about rough idle/misfires and starting issues. BTW is it running LPG or is it standard?

sorry i had another tread wont start.

whats happend is went to start it other morning cut out. got it going but gear stick was shaking and it didnt sound right so i turned it off. now it wont start up, batterys fine fuels going though, spark plugs are all ok. i got the guy out basically as my partner told me to, he said that the distributor caps working fine and the distributor was sparking but was allout of time and maybe that was where the problem lie.
I dont know the first thing about mechanics lol i will admit it, but i am trying to learn all the terminology and what works what lol

I would get somebody to run the standard ignition tests first. Without any idication what has been checked I can't really give any pointers. If there are plenty sparks the coil should be O.K. BUT V8's are temperamental and everything needs to be just so or they will throw a hissy fit.

If the ignition timing is all over the place it could be a stretched timing chain; then again it could be the inductive pick up is on its' way or the ignition amplifier (but they normally play up when hot). Like I said, do a search and let us know how you get on.

Where abouts in the country are you, there may be someone close who might be able to help you out.
