I'm trying to replace the rotor under the distributor cap, as it is pitted and worn. It will not budge. there must be a trick to getting it off, any help will be appreciated.

Crush it with a pair of pliers,do not pull it off as you will break the plastic collet in the top of the dist shaft and all the bob weights will come adrift.

Wrap a duster around the distributor first to stop the bits of broken rotor dropping inside.

Bits like that can jam the bob-weights for the advance timing doo-dahs.

I was sort of hoping he'd have the sense to do that anyway - in my old age I'm getting economical with typing.:D
