Hello,

I'm pretty new to the forum, and never posted before, but I'm after some help/advice please.

I'm going to look at a Discovery 2 TD5 2004 that has had a body off restoration, and I am looking at some pictures of the chassis, and would like to confirm if there were any changes made to the later Facelift car chassis from the early chassis 1998-2002 ?

There seems to be a chassis cross member that is cylindrical on the picture I'm looking at and when I look at other pictures on the web, for later cars this cross member looks rectactangular in construction.

I will check the chassis number which is if I'm correct on the o/s/r chassis wheel arch area, but if anyone can point me to any early/late chassis identifiers I would be grateful.

I also don't want to buy a car with a donor chassis and fall foul of dvla.

Any help much appreciated.

Cheers

I thought the were round

The fact that it has a chassis is something of a miracle, most have turned to dust by now :)

My '02 D2 chassis is good. Never been welded
Shame the head gasket wasn't in as good a condition. That's getting fixed next week.

Thanks for the replies guys. I think what i;ve seen is reproduction chassis with a square/rectangular piece here instead, probably easier to fabricate?
