Hello All..Got a bit of a Problem with my Heater on my 1997 Discovery 300TDI.The car Temperature gauge warms up pretty fast, after about 1 mile. But it takes about 4 to 5 Miles or so for the Heater to kick in to warm the inside of the car..

I dont think is a problem... the gauge shows u the temperature of the cylinder block and the coolant will reach the heater matrix just after the thermostat opens..... if before used to be better it means the thermostat might had became lazy or it's clogged with some dirt(if it is) . Flush the system, eventually replace the stat just be aware that it has a certain thermic inertia, his core isnt so rapid as the gauge and the temperature of the coolant will reach that level with some delay.

By the way ... assuming that it isnt a classic "summer" question ... are u from the north pole or something? :D... just joking;)

also remove the two bungs and ensure coolant system is overflowing, too much will blow out of cap safely not enough will overheat engine eventually

replace them with brass ones - as sure as eggsizeggs they will break when yu least want them.
