Yes, identical in every way.Hello all, I was just wondering if somebody could help me, is a discovery 3 chassis the same as a discovery 4 chassis?
Yes, identical in every way.
Don’t know why I thought the chassis were slightly different
Every day is a school day
The D3 was pretty much the base vehicle and much like the earlier 200 to 300Tdi changes they were literally just cosmetic and interior upgrades whilst on the road to a replacement vehicle.
Many thks, noticed a big difference with the cost on ebay , D3 chassis is around £500 , D4 chassis about £3k
So assume the D3 coil and air suspension chassis are also the same
Not sure why they would be different?
The aim of the game was to make them in such a way that there was nothing in there to modify apart from the fitting of coilover units and omitting the EAS pump and pipes.
D4 chassis I would imagine is a blag for more cash as they are newer and in over all better condition and the more elderly D3 chassis's are now starting to look decidedly ropey with lots of scaly rust and the generally poor paint finish means they look like tat but there is a hope someone will buy it and the D4 chassi with better paint looks decidedly mint in comparison.
I’m wondering if the difference is for adblue, different engines/ gearboxes etc
Asked disco mikey from the D3 forum who rebuilds these all the time and he said
“Same (essentially) chassis. Some differences between v. early 05MY, late 05-06MY, different again at 07MY, changed at 10MY, and I think they changed at 14MY too”
Indeed that’s what I was also thinking ref the D4 chassis being in better nick so demand a higher price
Must admit was lucky with my chassis , solid throughout , just needed a clean and coating of dinitrol inside and out, when I removed the wheelarch liners , sprayed in there as well , plus underbody was also done
If I had the money would like to remove the body , get the chassis galv and dipped with the tough black coating

Fook meh.
Thats involved
Makes me feel better about my D2 :lol
Changes would be negligible TBH, I very much doubt there would be much in it except for maybe some stiffeners and such from the early versions.
Very tidy, it would be so nice to have the facilities to undertake such a task, I'll make do with my gravel drive
Indeed , to be honest am well chuffed with the condition of my chassis and at least I know it’s got plenty more Year’s left after seeing its in such good Nick
Same with urs, have u got to underseal urs or has it already been done plse
and looking at new builds around here a garden is a luxury let alone off road parking,Think ur right u know ref a few plates here and there
Would be awesome to have a lift, but indeed am the same will have to make do with my drive , which I’m chuffed about as many down the street haven’t got a drive so count my blessings , along with being able to put a gazebo over the top without worrying about cars coming past
your tank top strap seems to be missingI have Kurusted and Waxoyled her.
But it will be Hammerite Undersealed.
Hmmyour tank top strap seems to be missing
and looking at new builds around here a garden is a luxury let alone of road parking,
Hmm
i'll have to look into that. lol
Don't fink so.Apologises for the daft question plse, is that a fuel pipe joint above the exhaust silencer
