Hi all
Does any one know what a reasonable price to pay for a discovery gearbox is i`ve been quoted £570 fitted is this about right

Either not even sure it is the gearbox it just seemed to jump out of gear and when i tried to put it back in the gear stick went in but no drive i had a look underneath and the prop was still on so i asumed it is the gearbox

a guy on ebay is advertising an exchange box for 465.00
so your quote seems reasonable, assuming its a rebuilt exchange box too.

look under car when in gear with the engine running. If you can see either prop shaft turning the problem is not in the gearbox.You did check the high low lever didn't you? My partner called me out once saying the gears wouldn't work she'd pulled the wrong lever and put the transfer box in neutral

I've seen prices ranging from mid 450's to over 600. Just depends on used, rebuilt, etc.
