that is s tupid amount of money for one of those iv just bought one my self i suggest you look at the buying guide here and get over to the disco3 forum, they are amazing cars but like everything they do have problems

There seems to be a lot for sale, is there any problems with them ? or are they any good ??

I paid half of that for my 2005 SE with similar miles, but that was 5 years ago when it was 7 years old. I had it for 2 years and spent over £3K on replacing worn components and undoing various bodges on it. I did all my own spanner work, so the £3K would have been more like £6K if labour was addad. The D3 is a fabulous vehicle, but can be very expensive to fix, when it goes wrong, especially if the crankshaft breaks.
 
Spoke to the bloke the other day and he says cam belts have been done, new suspension pump and front arms. Recons its got an excellent service history.
 
Talking about the D3, was looking at getting one for sometime, but was put off by the horror stories of broken cranks, and the difficulty of some the service jobs on the TDV6, especially replacing timing belts. Just wondering if there are any such major issues with the petrol V8?

Cambelt is nowt to be scared about, there many harder to do cars out there.

I reckon as the oil capacity is so small (5.5ltrs) and service interval so long (10/12k) thats the reason engines fail as people being people push the envelope.

Petrol has its own issues, apart from the fuel consumption!

Ask him about the oil pump, if hes vague or tries to convince you its not an issue walk away.

It states oil service required every 6000 miles

As others have said that’s seriously overpriced

Also mentioned have a look on the D3 forum as there’s always D3/D4s being sold and u know they’ve been looked after , as per @lynall link along with priced accordingly to the market value and not getting ripped off

When I ran motorbikes the haynes used to show you how to make tools to do the job, now its refer to dealer for sunroof/gearbox/tfer box and anything slightly tricky.
Haynes may say 6k and I have always done 5k as its easy to remember, but Im sure the handbook calls for 10 or 12k.

U mentioning oil intervals , even though I only cover 2-3,000 miles per year I always do all my oils
Lovely Motor and very good price, but doesn't state if Cam belts or Oil pump been done, so you could possibly add another £1500 or so to the price, if they haven't

Indeed many members there really look after them and would be very surprised if they hadn’t done the belts etc

But of course if u keep an eye out and see one u like there always be happy to advise u if anything needs doing

IMPORTANT - OIL CHANGE DIESEL ENGINES
If the vehicle is operated on fuel with a high sulphur content (over 0.7) the oil change intervals must not exceed 6,000Km (3750 miles)
If the vehicle is operated on fuel with a moderate sulphur content (between 0.3 - 0.7) the oil change intervals must not exceed 12,000Km (7500 miles)

Think also from reading others on the D3 forum there doing their ATF changes around 50,000-75,000 miles

Reading that service schedule says to me in the UK with std low sulphre diesel the oil changes are indeed every 15k or annually, ie a std A service and the B service is just another A with extras.

Its only when abroad using lower spec diesel that the oil change intervals need to be shortened.
Im not sure what sulphur percentage UK diesel has? but as Euro4 came out in 2006 I would say its way way lower than the numbers you quoted from the LR service schedule.
