Hi has anyone fitted a fan belt to a 200tdi, I have tried but got stuck trying to get to and remove the fan.:confused. The belt is slipping and I am loosing the power steering at low speed it is also screaching.

why are you removing the fan?.... slacken the alternater bolts so it moves in to slacken the belt then you can wriggle the old belt off over the fan and fit the new one then retighten the alternator, i find a jemmy wedged tween alternater and block makes it easy to get the belt tight.

Does the same apply for the power steering belt? What is a jemmy? I was removing the fan as it tells you in the Haynes manual, but if you don't need to remove the fan then I'm all for it.

jemmy, wrecking bar, small crowbar.... better than a big screwdriver for levering things...
most vee belt drives have one of the pulleys mounted on slots so the pulley can be moved to tighten the belt, on the fan belt the alternater is the adjustable one. on the power steering belt the ps pump is on slotted mounts so it can be moved.... the fan belt has to come off to let the ps belt come off...... the belt has to be tight to drive without slipping and squeeling, using a small crowbar to lever the adjust able pulley to tighten the belt makes it easier to get it tight enough.
