So the other day I see water under the front of the disc, I’m thinking well I have had the A/C on probably the condensation, so I dismiss it, but I stopped somewhere wait a minute that’s more than condensation, I have a look under the N/S wing, there’s water on the side of the engine quite a bit, Oh **** it’s not is it, I topped up when I got home couldn’t see where the water was coming from, I had suspicion but hoped I was wrong, anyway hand up under the exhaust manifold I feel water and its coming from something that has been blanked off, and it’s been blanked off with a plastic cup held in place with a metal clip, it’s obviously split, I can’t find any reference to this part in any of the manuals, and I can’t see it from the top or the bottom of the engine, but I did fashion a piece of rubber pipe to go over the whole thing and clamp the pipe with two clips, to again blank it, I have found a picture of this thing, can anyone tell what this thing is please

I believe it is factory fitted.
Genuine is an expensive part.
A well known auction site is your friend. Search auto silicone blank. I think 20mm is the size you need.

Seems to be the coolant hose from oil cooler to EGR which has removed and blanked. You can replace it with suitable silicone cap.

I'm intrigued too. What is it?

There you go, while I'm staring at the picture and trying to work it out, some one answers the question. :)

Hi, On later engines (looks like picture is a later 15P) this oil cooler was blanked off.

I thought it was only blanked off for ROW (Rest of the World) Spec. vehicles that didn't have EGR fitted. My 2004 D2 had the pipework (before i removed it and blanked it)

This blanking plug was leaking on my D2 facelift when I bought it, I just replaced it with a short piece of hose and plugged the end... that was 4 years ago, it's never leaked since :)

Thanks Griff, realise what it is now, someone had blanked it at some point and used some sort of plastic cup that had hardened and then split, I have placed a bit of rubber hose over the top and as said by matgriff plugged it with a bit of broom handle, should hold it for a while.
