Hi There,
Im a new member based in the Highlands and Ive just bought a 2002 Discovery Td5 XS manual with about 128,000 on the clock. I'm hoping for any advice on the following:
Vehicle drove great for a while, then yesterday 'ping' noise in the dash, ABS light came on and a horrible banging/grinding noise came from the front - I think more drivers side but not sure. Stopped, checked the basics, fired her up again and the noise continued for a couple of minutes, both whilst turning and on the straight. Then the noise stopped and I carried on at 60mph until I got home. ABS light still on.
Jacked her up this morning and checked the basics - nothing obviously broken (Springs etc) but the n/s front wheel bearing is fairly goosed. Slight oil leak from front diff, but level is OK.
I suppose my question is would a knackered bearing cause the noise/light? If not any suggestions as to what may be the problem?
Also - vehicle does not have Active Cornering Enhancement.
Any help greatly appreciated.
