Bought a x reg Discovery a few months ago 48,000 miles on the clock very clean. The Reversing lights stopped working so slid underneath to check the switch and noticed that the two rear bulkhead outriggers were very badly corroded the right hand one is 33% missing. I intend to weld some new ones on myself.
I have two questions: I have found and brought a right hand rear outrigger for £35 but can't locate a left hand one, Has anyone got one for sale or know were I can defenetly get one. And also is it a MOT fail if these are rottern as it passed its MOT in November and there is no way this amount of rot could ocure in 6 months?
Thanks
Rob

Thanks for that contact Cambridgcockney I will call them in the morning.

50 pence, the rest of the chassis has some surface rust but sound with no holes or cracks, once I have repaired the outriggers I will seal it before the winter
.

Whereabouts are you ?. I have a scrap chassis up the farm, I can check the condition of the outriggers. I was goung to weigh it in next week.

If you can rough cut around it with a little bit of chassis on I can tidy it up to fit, my main bit of chassis is sound.
Thanks

And that... is what LZ is all about! It gave me a warm feeling and it ain't even my problem! :D

Double check, but I'm sure it will pass an MOT with more than 50% of the outriggers intact... just something I heard. Hence it passed if the other 8 mounting points are good

Here it is !. Got some surface rust, but plenty on metal there.

£20.00 for my efforts and £11.00 delivery. ( should get it on a special delivery as its just under 2kg,s ).

Let me know !.

Ineresting observation.

Lets see.

10 mile drive to the farm, half hour to pick it of the scrap pile, 20 minutes with the petrol cutter, 10 mile drive back via the post office where i waited 15 minutes to get it weighed and an estinate for postage.

I didnt have to do any of that for a member who had less than 5 posts by the time I offered to help.

What help do you offer from your copmuter keyboard ?

A lot of stuff goes on for free on LZ. I agreed with biggeee because I'd not realised the hassle involved from your side. Always good to know both sides for the story and I apologise for the wrong assumption. You're right, you hardly knew/know the chap and I am sorry.

LZ members do help each other out, as I try to from my limited knowledge and lack of actual stuff to give or sell, so mostly it's from the keyboard. :tea:

price is what someones willing to pay, and how much someone wants rid of a part.

personally for summat that looked like that I'd send it for postage and a few beers.

how much for the arse end of the chassis?
and if I collected it?

don't need it for best, its for templating, for making reproduction arse ends.

just seen your in Cambridge, bit far but i'll give you a shout if nowt turns up more local.
don't hold it specially, if it needs to go, get rid.

cheers.
