Can someone please confirm if there is a steel lid to fit the air filter housing or does the filter element seal on the bevelled top diameter and clamp on with plastic wing nut
Thanks

There is a lid, whether its plastic or metal I cant remember. Will try and remember to look when I walk past mine

Definitely a lid, wingnut holds the element in place, then the metal lid which has a plastic knob ,captive, to hold the lid on.
I'll go get a pic of mine.
Bear with....

However....Yours looks different to mine, sort of more modern? I recall now that there are two elements for the disco 1 200tdi. And as yours is different to mine then it may be that yours has the 'lid' built in to the element? Mine does not, mine is all metal with a separate metal lid, element is just paper. Yours looks like the body is plastic and I'm not familiar with that type.

Yes Flossie yours is different although is that a defender engine or discovery
It’s off a 93/94 discovery and to me it does look like the element below pops in and secured with the wing nut, but not sure if further lid goes on

As for an extra lid as such, I don't know but doubt it.
Someone will have the same as you and will chip in I'm sure.
