Hi all,

Yesterday my Disco decided to let me down on the motorway typical after I have just re MOT'd and Taxed her!
She's been running a bit sluggish in high revs for a few days (felt like not enough fuel getting through) and yesterday just lost power and cut out.
Recovery chap said it was probably the Fuel Pump so I have just replaced that (and the filter) this morning.
No luck though, turns over no problem but as a few have mentioned on here the Glow pug light does not come on and she wont kick into life.

She's used every day and apart from costing me a fortune in welding never lets me down (until now).
2000 plate TD5 with 156k on the clock.

Any help would be appreciated.

Cheers

if you don't mind me suggesting, it would be a very good idea to introduce yourself first, before putting up help requests. that way you may not get an earfull off the lads.
have you checked all fuel filters. are you getting any fuel to the injectors.check your ecu for oil' i doubt it's that but still worth a try.also you could try doing a search on hear. lots of info.

Did you follow the purge / prime . Start up as in hand book after changing filter and pump ,you gotta get that air out the lines or you will just turn over and over ?

My apology's for not introducing myself,
I have been reading these boards for many years but never post, I am no Landy expert so there isn't an awful lot I can contribute but you guys and girls have helped me out many times through being able to read this stuff.
I am on my first Disco which I have had for 3 years, until recently I have had a KV6 and in my job (festival Security) I spend most of my time in 110s.

I primed the system after installing the pump and checked the relays which had some oil on them. Will check the ECU after I finish work at the Football today.

Does the lack of the glow plug warning light coming on indicate a fault with that relay? or fault with the injectors??

Cheers in advance

have you got any power to the glowplugs. if not check fuses.the glow plug light not coming on won't have any effect on injectors. also, as van man advises make sure you purge the fuel system properly. just do a search on here and you should find what your looking for. and WELCOME TO THE FORUM.

I agree with lyron . Check you have power to glow plugs before anything else . If you do have power . Make shaw you batt has plenty of power to get a good cranking over . And then try the purge again .

I know I keep mentioning it but an easy check is to have the timing checked. Best to take it to a Landy Indy for that. If you don't know when injector seals have been done get those changed while doing this bit. Also the injector harness if that shows signs of oil in plug at front of rocker or in red plug to ECU. Glow plug issue wouldn't make it cut out when it's running. Is cat fitted if so is it clear and not blocked. EGR stuck..? Fuel filter you could replace. MAF get tested on live data. Obviously list can go on but they are easy enough checks to start with.

Have you got power to the fuel pump and is it running?

When the old pump failed it could well have blown a fuse.
