:mad: HELLO CAN ANYBODY HELP ME I HAVE A DISCO 200TDI THE TIMMING BELT RECENTLY SNAPPED I HAVE MANNAGED TO REPLACE THAT BUT NOW I HAVE A PROBLEM WITH MY ALTERNATOR,IT HAS STOPPED CHARGING THE WARNING LIGHT IS STAYING ON AND THE REV COUNTER IS NOT WORKING . I HAVE REPLACED THE ALTERNATOR FOR ANOTHER ONE BUT THAT HAS NOT FIXED THE PROBLEM CAN ANYBODY HELP ME PLEASE THANKS :mad:

hello, its either a duff alternator or a wring problem, the rev counter works off the alternator so it wont work if the alternator isn't charging.

first place to look is on the offside of the engine bay, there are some fusable links and its common for them to rot out causing bad connections.

if i remember rightly the fusable links are thick grey wires and you'll need to check them with a multimeter.

check you are getting 12v to the alternator, if you unplug the alternator (ignition on, engine off), the light should go off, if it does then the charge light wiring is ok.
