Hi all, this is becoming quite a nuisance in the early hours - the alarm keeps going off. I have unplugged the one in the passenger wing, later to find out there is a backup in the rear behind all the interior panels with its own battery supply. I have just removed the fuse for the horn but doubt it will make a difference.

I have tried locking the car with the lock in the drivers door to disable the motion sensor but this has not stopped it from going off. Would I be correct to assume that this is now an issue with the door sensors?

Please give me your thoughts and any ideas to temporarily shut it up too? Thanks.

Hi,

If you know someone with a nanocom then the alarms can be turned off at least to stop it being annoying.

Have you tried physically disconnecting the volumetric sensors, to see if that helps.

I assume you are locking it with the fob normally and the car starts and runs normally.

Cheers

I don't unfortunately near me :(
I am locking it with key currently to disable the motion sensors. Rest of vehicle works perfectly

Well thats a shame. As said try popping the sensors out and unplugging them. iirc, the alarm can be set to use any of or all of the horns alarm sounders, carhorn , alarm in the engine bay and as you have found the one the boot.

I would have thought it it was a door sensor, it would have given the single beep as if a door was left ajar when you locked it.

Cheers

No it does not give the single beep when i lock it with the doors closed, only if its open as it should. Where about's on the pillar are the sensors / switches, they done seem as obvious as the ones on a Defender

They are above the windows. in the roof , pop them out and disconnect , a 1 minute job. Fairly obvious when you look for them.

Some vehicles for some reason have had it set that, locking with a key does not disable the sensors. I was surprised to find this on one vehicle a friend had. As she could not understand why she could not lock her dog in the car if she needed to.

If disconnecting them works, then it would probably require further investigation with diagnostics. Or leave them disconnected.

Cheers

OK thanks for the info. I will have a look tomorrow. Knowing my luck it will be set to that the motion is permanently on haha

In this case dont bother with the volumetric sensors cos it's something else. it can be the bonnet or a door switch which makes tricks after the alarm was armed, the alarm works with partial arming too so first of all unplug the bonnet switch then lock and see if it happens again or not, the misslock will let the alarm work on all the other doors except the one which triggered it

just been reading that the only door sensor that is easy to get to is the drivers one, the rest are in the door locks?

bollocks
so you cant unplug them without disconnecting the door actuators? It had all new ones last year.

so im f*cked then basically. Im at uni with no tools or time, I just need a way to make it shut the hell up.

You can't unplug only the switches only if you unplug the actuator's plug.... Does it go off immediatelly after you lock?

Thought so - No it doesn't, it does it randomly. The car doesn't sound when I press the lock button as if a door is open, and the interior lights work normally as does the air suspension.

FWIW, I had a similar problem where the alarm would keep going off randomly when I locked it using the keyfob, however, I could lock it using the key fine. I never found the actual problem, and had to disable the volumetric sensors using a Nanocom in the end. Disconnecting the sensors inside the car, and also the bonnet switch made no difference.
