My brother in law has been very ill and his disco sport has a problem with low battery warning, its about 3 1/2 to 4 years old he has had it from new, his son drove it for a while to try and charge it but it seems to be getting worse with heater and door locking now playing up so I reckon its had its day, does the battery need a memory saver plugging in before changing or is it best to have the supplier change it for further guarantee issues etc.?
I have seen some posts on computer updates as well but it wouldn't surprise me if the battery wont stick to the limits of the computer settings?
As a P38 owner its all too hi tech for me, he never let me drive it in case I bolted a tow bar on!

Take it to halfords and let them sort it out.
That's the last place I'd take it. We took out old Rover 75 to Halfords for a new battery and paid the extra £15 to have it fitted. A young girl who looked about 15 bought it out to the car and she was struggling to carry it. It took her half an hour to undo the battery securing bracket and then she couldn't do it up again. I eventually finished the job. The only reason we paid for them to do it was I was struggling with my COPD and could hardly breath at the time.

The battery monitor system will need resetting, once a replacement battery is fitted.
Simple to do with the correct kit.
I can't see a bad battery affecting the heating though, as that only becomes functional once the alternator is making power.

Thanks for all the replies, I see he has RAC cover and they do battery quotes including fitting so might just get a quote in New Year, I will phone the main dealer he bought if from but they are W*****s so don't expect any help from them. I used the owner manual link as above gave me nightmares is that what modern motoring is about!

Thanks for the help guys, key fob batterys fitted solved the door locking problem, i also had to use the hack i read about on here of the coat hanger wire to free the heater fan, the low battery light still comes on but the car has been starting everyday so when he gets the green light to drive again he will take it in for a new battery.
