I have a rattle in the silencer in the front pipe.
The exhaust centre advises me it is not a silencer but an Exhaust Gas Purifier similar to a Catylitic Converter on a petrol. I have been told the front pipe is $900 AUS. Genuine.
Is there anyone in Australia who can advise on a cheaper alternative.
It is a $10,000 AUS. fine for removing the offending purifier here.

Thanks,

Devo

1. Use "find a store" facility on top and see what u find Terrafirma DEF and DIS Td5 de-cat down pipe | Performance - Exhaust pipes Accessories for Land Rover Vehicles

2. These guys are shipping worldwide https://www.lrdirect.com/?cat=420392 , try and see if it worth it...... or google out DA4348

3. the pipe fitting is not a complicated or hard job, u can DIY without probs....make an idea http://www.landyzone.co.uk/lz/f8/disco-td5-de-cat-pipe-install-96518.html

The problem is Fery that the OP says it's an offence to remove the "Cat" where he lives. Not sure if he's right on that with a diesel, but he should know shouldn't he??

It is indeed against the law here to tamper with any anti-polution components however, as has been advised,if the guts mysteriously disapears out of the cat-converter then with out tampering then that is ok.
I took your advice and established that the non-genuine is $900 AUS and the genuine is $1,400. Neither of which is available in AUS and all will have to beordered ex UK. I can only presume that as the cat pipe is not a stock item here then few or NONE replaced.
Very mysterious.

Thanks for the help,

Cheers,

Hiya Devo, just for your info, tampering with the cats on petrol-engined cars is forbidden in Europe but with diesel engines only the exhaust gases are checked for smoke particles. The system itself is not checked against factory original specifications

Is this not the case in WA?
