Looking at putting a disco 300tdi in and there's a '97 auto close to me for sale for a decent price, usual MOT rot box blah blah blah. Any way I believe these have a 'fly by wire' accelerator linkage whatever that means and yes I've done a search.

So as I plan on using my existing manual lt77 box what's involved in removing/modifying the throttle linkage to use this engine (simple terms please, pics would be good to), or is it easier to buy an earlier discovery with a normal wire linkage like the one I've already got?

you need a pedal assembly ,wiring loom ecu and modify fly wheel plus housing to take crank sensor

I believe you have to change the pump and injectors if you don't want fly-by wire

I'd want to remove it so it sounds cheaper/easier to buy one without this fitted then....

in which case youd need an injection pump from non edc engine

Just googled it and came up with this....Removing the EDC and Fly-By-Wire on a 300Tdi Disco 1.

£1016, I think I'll give that a miss

no its an egr 300tdi, theres a throttle pot on injection pump so as egr ecu knows throttle position

just leave it unplugged and fit a blank under egr valve on manifold

What does a fly by wire unit look like then? Just in case I go down the engine only route
