Looking for help.
Our disco 4 (2009) has developed a strange issue. It started a few weeks back when we struggled to unlock/lock boot. Sometimes it would unlatch as you approached (as it should) sometimes it wouldn’t even open without pressing the unlock button on the key and trying to open boot at the same time. Then, it just fixed itself….until earlier this week. We open the car get in, and the boot starts to unlatch itself, over and over again. Jump out, plus it shut again and by the time you get back into the car it has unlatched again….arghhhh. So, we drive with it unlatched and you can hear it clicking over and over again as it’s constantly unlatching, just like you are pressing the boot unlock in the key. We also think it is causing the alarm to go off randomly as it is unlatching when locked, but not 100% sure in that yet.
Anyone any pointers or ideas?

The tailgate release switch on the upper tailgate are prone to corrosion of the metal plate under the rubber, this causes it to bind in the housing, it could be sticking just on the threshold of the on/off point of the switch - or the switch could have water ingress.
It won't be the cause of the alarm as the switch just signals to the CJB, which if the car is locked, just ignores the input.
Or it could be water ingress to the CJB....

Central Junction Box - behind the lower glove box.
Do you have a pan. roof? if so, is there water under the carpet on the N/S?

I was planning to look at this weekend when I had a day to myself and now the boot has locked and won’t open….arghhhh……my disco has gremlins. Any hints on this new issue? 😡
