hi, could do with a few suggestions please. i rolled my disco over onto drivers side, we pulled it back over onto its feet. i started her up and she was running but abit of black smoke. i drove forward 6 foot and she revved her arse off and kicked out loads of black smoke, i switched key off but nothing, so i popped bonnet an jumped out, then she died. i tried starting her but no luck she was just knocking and clunking. so i got towed home, i tried bumping her, she sort of started but no revs or idle it was just when i was in gear and being towed. i got her home and changed the turbo and manifold thinking that the turbo seals had gone, but she sill wont start, so we tried bumping her again but still she just knocks and clunks when being dragged in gear and runs very slightly but no revs. i would be grateful for any suggestins. many thanks

engine has run on its own oil - hence the high revving, it might have jumped a tooth on the cam belt as it would have revved beyond the set max on the injection pump, take rocker cover off and check for bent pushrods and broken rocker arms as an easy check for belt related damage

How long did yu leave it, between righting the motor and trying to start it, to allow the oil to drain back to the sump?

It's gonna need some work if it's top end as BMP suggests then it won't be too bad but if it's bottom end as I suspect then it's you need to know what your doing and it can get very costly.

she was on her side for approx 10 mins. then about 5 mins later i cracked her up to see if she would start as we were in the middle of nowhere
