Hi everyone,
Just bought a disco 3 diesel. All seemed fine, until i kicked the box down to overtake a car. The pulled away as expected, but i found it would change up when i lifted my foot.
I meant to put into tiptronic, but accidently hit into neutral, and then put it back into drive at around 70mph.
I noticed the box was struggling to change, so i pulled over. On the dash was gearbox fault, limited gears!!
Switched her off, restarted, and all was clear again.......

Any ideas

Dont put it into neutral at 70 ? Lol

You probably got a way with that ok,but as said don't make a habit of it.

auto box not supposed to be moving unless in gear, for the same reason its not adviseable to tow an auto.

As in tow with wheels on ground fine if on a trailer just to specify if theres any one who is baffled by that statement

You dopey bûgger !!!! Never, ever put an autobox car in neutral when moving, especially at speed!!!!

its not quite the same ,with engine off theres no oil been pumped round and all moving parts sit above oil level

Can u tow a auto if u put transfer box into neutral ? :s

Yes you can, but you need to keep your speed down and it's a good idea to have the engine running, for autobox oilpump, brakes and steering reasons.
