I'm thinking of getting a K reg Disco 200tdi. It has a long MOT, 190K on the clock and is a tad tatty on the inside and out. It has four years service history and drives like a dream (although the clutch bites extremely close to the floor).

Is there/are there any issues with this model of Disco and is 190K about the max lifespan of this 2.5ltr engine?

I currently have a series3 109 stationwagon which I love to bits but I have to admit is a tad rough for long 6 or 7 hour journeys with a boat on the back.

What to do, what to do.

depending on the servicing etc..the engine can go for a lot longer. 250k miles is not unknown.
change the oil and filter regular. esp if short town driving is the norm.
(change at half the LR spec).
cam belt change is also another big issue. change at 48k not the 60k spec.

go for it. i love my 200tdi.

Check around rear floor and just in front of the rear bumper inner sills and inner wings. Test clutch by putting in third gear let clutch out at the same time rev up engine and progessivly apply foot brake This will stop vehicle if clutch is good If not the clutch is slipping. If it isnt slipping then clutch needs bleeding. b.b
