Hi I have a 200tdi Disco...the central locking and alarm was working perfectly with the remote...however I have noticed that when I now lock the car, rather than the 3 flashes I used to get I get a single long flash...all the doors lock ok and the alarm light inside still flashes as before
I changed the remote batteries today (new 6 months ago) and has made no difference.....any ideas ??

dont no if its the same as a 300tdi discovery but under you glove comparment in the passage floor well there is a little connector box with a white plug into it, thats the alarm and that have a look if its in proberly :)

test the alarm is still working by sitting in it and arming it, it should go off if you wave your arms about. Some systems have ways of telling you the fob battery needs replacing so you might want to try that just incase.

I have not been able to get the indicators to flash when arming or disarming the system even after replacing the batteries in the remote. The alarm works as explained in the book, inside sensor operates when using the remote and not when locking with the key. Also imobiliser does the job. I thought the wiring to the lights might be a fault but not sure which is which, needs more study. Had a thought, the trailer tell tale light on the dash doesn't flash when trailer is attached. Could the relay be faulty causing both problems?

According to the handbook:-

..the hazard lights will flash 3 times to show that the system is armed. If the batteries are low then the hazard lights will flash once for three seconds to warn the driver the batteries are to be replaced.

You did change both batteries? (CR2016)?
