New here and probably been asked before but thought I'd try :)
Our disco 2 wouldn't open or start so entered eka code. Bought hawkeye as need something for future and ordered a key of eBay. Chinese with both long codes. Ended up changing the receiver unit .... Old key now works but can't program new one..... It gets to enter long codes .... I emter both on hawkeye but when rechecked it still isn't seeing it. Key bought was described as discovery amd rover 75 type and has a transponder chip inside. Is the key the problem ? What am I doing wrong...... Help appreciated I'm not new to fixing cars just not a landrover expert YET .... :)

The code is finicky to input, you must include all the symbols if i recall. Mine took 2 attempts.
Not sure about Rover 75 keys

Cheap chinese keys can have fake codes just for aspect, if it doesnt have an internal code on the PCB send it back and get refund cos you'll not be able to program it whatsoever... happened to me too, if it has code sticker on the PCB compare it with the long code cos it should match the first characters starting from the 2'nd one untill the 7'th , what's certain is that using the short code works only with nanocom

Thanks I'm thinking that may be issue ...... Read a lot before got this far and hoped the cheap keyight work. Any ideas on where to pick up a replacement uaed or new thats reliable ?

This is the reliable way https://remotekey.co.uk/land-rover-...overy-2-discovery-series-2-year-1999-to-2006/ i dont know how that programming tool works but you can try and it might program your chinese key too then you have a spare
Thanks Sierrafery I'm trying to avoid paying out again now I have the hawkeye for programming. Will update once I know what ended up working :) just seen on keyfob code maker ... The 6 digit to long code that codes have to start and end with certain characters depending on market .....Europe U.S. etc so going to try something with the codes they gave.

Do you have code on the PCB ? , if not i doubt you'll manage to synk it with hawkeye, that fob code generator spreadsheet on the web is not 100% reliable
