Hi, recently had problems with my Disco 2 self braking,. Spent lots of money, looked t lots of forums, spoke to lots of people including Land Rover "specialists", none of whom could offer an answer:confused:. Replaced the master cylinder, ABS pump, disc, pads and calipers. Problem still persisted! In despearation I was searching the interet yet again and stumbled across this.

Recall Details for LAND ROVER - Discovery Series II=

It describes the exact fault!

Seems the fault is caused by a faulty relay on the ABS. £7.00 for the relay. I spent 100s' to get to this point. Seems o.k. so far.
Will update if anything else occurs, but nobody I have spoken to or consulted had come across this fault

i guess you changed the all rubber brake hoses when you changed the calipers ,if not then you should do it

the hose collapes on the inside and restricts the brake fluid . new brake hoses would have been my first thing to change on the vehicle

UPDATE!! Well the old girl ran o.k. for a while, until about 2 weeks ago! Had all the hoses changved like Defcrazy said, and another new master cylinder. Last night went to pick the missus up and no brakes at all! Seems like the master cylinder again! Britpart cylinder fitted, just got price for new LR cylinder £180.00 difference!! There's only the rigid pipework to replace now and losing faith in my Disco.

is the pedal hard and vehicle not stopping ? if so then check the vacum line is connected and there is a rubber o ring that goes between the cylinder and the booster so make sure its there and its sealing properly. if not then the cylinder maybe bad ive bought new and had problems with them too.
