Am i right in thinking that my hand brake on my disco 2 is only effectively working on one wheel through the transmission as i don't have a mechanical diff lock???

I was thinking about this when i got out of my disco and it kept moving on it's own in the snow! When i got back in it and put my foot on the foot brake it stopped easily.

I am now a bit concerned about leaving it on any hill!

Having been around Land Rovers for 40 years, I've learned not to trust their handbrakes anyway.
I always leave mine in gear.

No. If all of the wheels have traction then it is technically working on every wheel.
No. If no wheels have traction then it is still technically working on every wheel.
Yes. If all of the wheels have different amounts of traction then technically it only works on one wheel at any one time.

so pick your situation.
