so last weekend landy got a service , replaced fuel filter oil filter air filter & oil car running smooth , til friday seemed a bit slow so i accelerated a little and it chugged i was literally a street away from home to just took it easy til i got there , had a look on here and google but unsure what it could be , the car was running lumpy even idling was advised by mechanic to put in another bottle of forte injection cleaner , has about 8th of a tank of fuel , done this it didnt help , took it a drive wondering if it was the low fuel seemed a bit better at this point , put £50 of fuel in and proceeded to drive home , it was chugging badly managed to get it home , turned off ,when i tried to start again it was turning over but not starting at all sine then ive done the following

wastegate looks fine
modulator control valve has already been bypassed
there was very little oil on the red plug going into the ecu, cleaned that with brake cleaner
seems like its not getting fuel had the nanocom on it and its not showing any faults
the 1st fuel filter that was taken off at the service looked like the diesel was filthy so replaced it and topped it up with injector fluid ran fine for a couple days till this nightmare

any ideas ,
 
forgot to mention this engine is a defender p15 engine replaced in 2015 at 58000 miles checked the mots and its around 79000 miles on the defender engine , its also had an alive tune up
 
thanks for replying , im at a loss went through everything replaced the fuel filter again , worked fine took it a drive and it stopped again , the only thing i can think of now through reading on here is replacing the injector harness that should be here tomorrow
 
If the fuel looked filthy, it could be that your injector seals/washers have gone - this would let combustion gases into the fuel rail, potentially knacker the FPR, block up the air bleed valve, and ultimately kill the fuel pump/block its internal filter. Can also result in the small gauze tube filter behind the FPR being blocked. Could be coincidental failure, or the injector cleaner has dissolved some soot that was helping to mask the issue....

PS Bypassing the boost modulator on a D2 isn't good for performance - they're not expensive to replace.
 
If you didn't touch the loom during the service it would be too much of a coincidence for that to be the cause. Any missing/dodgy seals on the filter?
 
just changed the loom not a bit of oil and its still not going , advised it could be crank shaft poisition sensor

any ideas
