got a mate with a D2 that has had a ns rear airbag collapse.
Keith Gotts have said it needs to be trailered the <>15 miles to them, otherwise it can "Damage the vehicle".

Now I am sure other peeps have driven theirs....

So - if he removes the under bonnet fuse to stop the compressor running, will it be OK to drive it slowly to them?

If it's totally collapsed and won't re-inflate I doubt he'd get over 10 mph without rattling his teeth out. I drove a mile in mine with the rear flat and it was bone shaking. Emergency only I would suggest.

Is it not in a position where he can change the bag himself ?
I did both mine this morning and it really was the piece of **** that I had been told it would be, both done n dusted in less than an hour!

I'd drive it, most be on a rubber bump stop. I did 30 miles in a P38 on the bump stops with a caravan on the hitch. Not pleasant, but not destructive.

Nope £60 transport and £230 for the bag change..... I did offer - honest.

OK - so my maths ain't good.... Its been a long day

always keep a nice piece of wood in the boot(or improvise in situ), this thing works ok for D2 as well: woodrepair , ;) and you can drive it with decent speed many miles

If the bump stops are still present and the chassis is not rotted out there is no problem in driving at a speed the driver can cope with - avoiding potholes...
I have to say its a while since any DII owner has asked me to replace an air bag when a coil conversion can be fitted and forgotten so cheaply. And before all the "SLS is SO much better" mob chime in - it isn't,just be realistic about the value of the vehicle and what you need/expect from it.

Bags are cheaper than springs.

And SLS is better.

When its working, maybe it is,but Island 4x4 will sell you a coil conversion for £55 + Vat. Most owners consider DII's as old bangers now and wont spend the money on air parts, esp compressors...
My own (very) smart TD5 ES rides very well on its coil conversion, nobody has ever complained of a poor ride, it also tows a fully loaded 3.5t trailer quite happily.

Mine might be 11 years old but it is not a banger

He's right, it is simply better. I've had my D2 12 years and only had one issue with the SLS.
I tow a horse trailer and it's the best I've towed with (3rd LR, 1st SLS)

Couldn't agree more, renewed the air springs on my Td5 on Wednesday new ones are Dunlop ones and cost £49 each. Was a piece of **** to do took less than an hour.
Changing to coils here in France wasn't an option anyway as the vehicle wouldn't comply with its certificate of conformity and therefore be classed as unroadworthy!

I despise conformity.
