Hey there,

My 1999 V8 out of a discovery 2 is getting weaker and weaker by the mile. Just wondering if anybody knows of any common faults with this engine/vehicle??. One thing that I noticed is that the fuel pump is fine till about 2500RPM then its wines like anything LOUD, so possible fuel starvation??
Its done 104,000 miles with some service history and a head change at 68,000 I think without looking.

Thanks

Matt

Sounds like it,if it is fine at those revs and below, but not above, then fuel issue, pump knackered.

rightio thanks mate, would you recommend getting a proper genuine pump or would a cheap one work the same for reliability.

Thanks

Matt
Personally,I would go for a genuine pump, not worth going for a cheapo one, they are cheap for a reason, plus you will find on here, people who have gone for the cheaper one's,and regretted it.On the flip side some have bought cheap and had no problems, but not many.Good luck, have you taken the pump out yet, checked all filters?.If i remember correctly, there is a filter built onto the pump itself, but take it out to make sure.
