Hi, I was wondering what sort of mpg I should be getting on lpg. On £ 5:20 of lpg (= to 1 gallon of unleaded at £1:19lt at the pumps) and round town driving I'm getting an average 23.2 miles on a 1997 3.9 auto with just 70,000 on clock. ( just had new plugs, leads oil and filter and has K&N induction kit ) I've only had it a couple of weeks and am new to all this. Is the consumption figure about right ? and what could I expect on a motorway run at 60 to 70 and also what average can I expect pulling a twin axle caravan.
Thanks
Dave

never had an lpg disco but ran a p38 with lpg for a while and you will probably find a slight drop in economy usually due to having to set the system up to run gas and petrol. There are also differences in the kits (newer being better and more economical)

If you assume a 10% drop for using lpg then you are looking at around 20mpg but gas is around half the price of petrol so you should get close to 2 gallons for the price of 1 giving you around 40 miles for your the same price as 22 on petrol.

as for motorway economy im fooked if i know but do a search on here and you should find your answer

Fuel economy is so hard to discuss online, as no two peoples driving styles are the same, but here goes...

On my Disco II ('99) with the 4.0L V8 I get around 15mpg in town, and nearer 20mpg on a motorway run on the gas. I don't see a huge difference between gas and petrol, not enough to really worry about anyhow. However, I can get the town figure down below 10mpg if I'm being a pratt.

Motorway runs are interesting though, at 50mph its doing 20ish mpg, at 60mph its doing 20ish mpg, but go up to 70, and because of its brick-like shape, that seems to drop off quite a bit. 65mph is my optimum cruise speed - plus its handy for the scameras.
