Went ploughing with my tow hitch on green lanes last weekend, got grounded and had to be winched out. Has anyone removed a disco tow hitch? Does it leave the fuel tank over exposed to damage? Advice needed! Cheers in advance

No it doesn't. But you can buy a tankguard with a built in towhitch receiver If you want some extra protection..

.......which is what I've just done. Bought it from a 4x4 parts company that shares it's name with a newspaper.

Just need to drill some holes further up the drop plate so that the tow ball is at a sensible height and make some spacers for under the anti roll bar bushes to stop it fouling on the bar!:( Other than that, crackin bit of kit.:)

i had one of those variable height drop plates with a pin throught it. Yep it was a plough when greenlaning. I took a grinder to it an took the bottom two inches off of it..!

it still ploughs every now and then but at least i still got the towball if i need it.
