I thought that if it was factory fitted, it needs to be on the vehicle.
MOT might be interesting.


If the ABS has been intentionally rendered inoperative, the whole system must be removed. This does not apply to sensor rings or other ABS components which are an integral part of another component, such as a brake disc or drive shaft.
 
If you just want to plug the holes to stop ingress of water and other stuff, why not just cut the wires right back and put them back in, or leave them in?
If the MOT guy is likely to make a fuss, take them out and plug them with rubber bungs of some sort.

I find it amazing that a safety item can be removed and isn't picked up on the MOT.

It is debateable whether it is a safety item. The brakes would be the safety item!
ABS is supposed to stop you crashing so easily due to skidding, but the bloke who skidded into my Disco on a hairpin bend had ABS! He braked like mad. No accounting for stupid. Warm, dry conditions on tarmac main road.
It isn't a substitute for driving according to the conditions. It was advertised as enabling you to steer while braking, well said mush had his wheels hard over to avoid me but still.....
And there are circs where ABS is a definite disadvantage.

I wonder what would happen in the case of a fatal accident?
When the vehicle is inspected and it comes to light you have removed it then maybe some uncomfortable questions would be coming your way?

They'd still have to prove that the brakes didn't work and that the MOT was false in some way.
Similar argument about ACE removal.
I nearly put my Disco 2 in a ditch going downhill to an S-bend in snow. The vehicle is auto. So I went in low range keeping my foot off the pedal as much as possible. I had never used HDC so didn't trust it.
All was OK until we got to the bottom when it started going all over the place. If I had been in a manual my foot would have been on the clutch all the time anyway (skid pan training) but as it was auto and I was spinning the wheel like mad to try to retain control, I shouted at the missus to put it in neutral.
As soon as she did that I regained control.
I'd trust skid-pan training over HDC and ABS any day of the week.

No. It is perfectly legal to remove so long as you conform to the rules. Ie fully remove and let your insurance know. At the end of the day there are still plenty of cars used daily that do not have ABS.
