Looking for a cheap fault code reader for my 1995 disco tdi but not sure what protocol it uses. Most readers I've seen read obd2 but this seems to be for cars from 2001 onwards! What protocol does the disco 1 use as i haven't got a clue when it comes to things like this.

Early 300 probly doesn't need or use 1.

Its got the 16pin multi plug under the steering wheel to plug one in. Got an abs fault so need to find out what's faulty .

dont mean its connected tho
lots of bits on different models get put in but not connected,my 200 has all the wiring in place for leccy windows but it dont have them

How do i diagnose fault with abs then?

I think you'll find that plug is for coding new remote fobs.
