Oh boy, this is irritating.

Up until this weekend I had an occasional intermittent fault where I'd get a warning chime, once per second, once the car got going over 20mph. If I slowed down the chime would stop. To fully stop the warning I'd have to park up, switch off and then start up again. (Have you tried turning it off and on again?.. :)

This weekend I've been getting the warning on almost every journey and the stop-and-start fix isn't clearing it. So every time I go over 20mph I get the b****y warning chimes every b****y second. B****y hell.

The only warning associated with 20mph that I'm aware of is the 'going too fast with suspension in off-road/high position'. I've obviously tried poking the raise/lower suspension button so the car thinks it's running at different ride heights. I had the car converted to springs about 18months ago so it doesn't actually raise/lower. The intermittent problem only started a couple of months ago, at most, so it's not directly related to fitting the springs. I do always have the SLS warning light on when I drive, there are no extra warning lights when the chiming starts.

So, any ideas how to diagnose/fix?

Is there something else that would trigger a warning above 20mph? (I assume the Transfer Box Neutral warning is at all speeds?)

I guess I could go find a garage with a code reader but I'm doubting that this will trigger a fault code as it is just a warning to the driver that they're being a dope?

As I'm on springs the ride height is going to be bang on. I guess I could get the ride height sensors calibrated, but isn't that a main-dealer job? And it feels a bit stoopid getting the sensors calibrated if I'm on springs.

Alternatively, where is the speaker that makes the dammned chime? Can I just unsolder it? Sounds like it's in with the dials.

There's got to be a better idea?

By the way, it's a 2001 Disco 4.0 V8 Auto. And I've a 600 miles to do this weekend. Ear plugs at the ready...

Seatbelts? Good idea. I just checked the Owner's book which says that the warning is once a second for 6 seconds, along with a warning light. I'll defo give the seatbelts a tweak next time the chime goes off but, it doesn't seem to have anything to do with 20mph, the handbook says it happens as soon as you turn the starter.

I've no idea where the wiring is that detects whether a seatbelt is unfastened, and whether it should be. There must be something in the belts and the seat???

How about investigating and fixing the SLS light being on?

It gets unhappy if there are problems with the vehicle height, more so on increasing speed.

Oh, sorry, just read message. Put in your location, and someone with nanocom can program it onto springs.

It's probably related to it trying to operate the compressor to adjust things.

sorry. nodded off for a mo there. I'm in glorious sarf london, near croydon, though I don't like to admit it.

If it's possible to tweak the bcu settings then that sounds like a top fix.
