Hey everyone got a really strange problem with my disco, it's a 300tdi manual, a few weeks ago whilst I was driving along something weird kept happening, the steering went really funny and felt like something was holding the front end back ( really hard to explain) I thought it was the brakes locking on or something rubbing on the wheel at first but the other day I decided to try the difflock out so drove it in hi difflock round the block and it drove exactly like it was when I was having the problems, so basically my transfer box is locking itself while I'm driving even tho the lever is out of lock and only locks for a couple of seconds or so, just want to ask has anyone else experienced this strange problem? And is it an easy fix or is a new transfer box job?

This is a highly unusual problem, if it really is the transfer box playing up. Do you get any lights coming on the dashboard when this happens?

jack one front wheel up and try it in diff lock wheel wont turn out of diff lock it will , try it a few times , diff lock selector in the box is spring operated ,it can be that linkage is adjusted poorly and so leaving selector on the border line of in and out ,wear in linkage and plastic bushes can cause this , it can take a few goes to ensure levers adjusted so it goes fully in and fully out
