Changed the seal on my 24 spline diff last week as it was leaking (oem frc 8220)

Bolt on flange surface was pretty good but I still cleaned it up with emery

Noticed today its leaking again

Am I best to get a kit with seal and new flange or could it be something else

did you pack rear of seal with grease to hold garter spring in place whilst you tapped new seal home

No I didn't james ,can't say I have before

Is the spring likely to have come off ?

if you tap the seal home

That's what I did so that's likely why she's still leaking !

cant say 100% but its a common fail as ive learned over the years

Fitted a new seal ,spring was still on the one I took out
Checked axle breather and it was blocked so cleared it

All should be OK now
