Discovered a clunking when cornering this week so started taking things apart. Everything was ok back up to the diff where I found this....

Well there's your problem!

Anyone know what the deal is with replacing it? Can I get a new pinion and side gears or is a new diff a better shout?

you can buy diff gear sets and shaft ,depends if its worn carrier,or crown wheel and pinion ,crown wheel needs removing from carrier to fit mark crown wheel to carrier so goes back the same ,new or another diff might be safer

Thats a planet gear . Quicker to grab another diff from breakers or the bay ( someone on here has bound to have one spare . wheres your location btw ?

How much should I expect to pay for a 2nd hand diff?

I'm in Bristol.

Also out of interest does anyone think I have a case to complain to the seller? I got the 110 from a garage in Cardiff only a month ago and the wheel bearing and diff have already gone.

Just bought one from local LR breaker for £60. I would be back to the garage double quick, you have some warranty by law. But you may have shot yourself in the foot as you have taken it apart, let us know how you get on.

Seen them on fleabay for £40 upwards, put a post in the wanted section, someone will have one you can buy on here. :)

When looking at 10 vs 24 spline, is this the amount of splines inside the side gears/ diff end of half shaft?
