I'm told the lever is broken. Just in case I need to lock the diff over the next few days. Can I get underneath and lock it manually?

Well that's an encouraging start. I'm on the final day of a holiday with the land being a few hundred miles away. I would certainly appreciate some checks/advice to determine what is working and what is not.

Well to check you could just jack a front wheel up and try to spin it with and without diff lock, with diff lock in it shouldn't spin
