Having bought my 2.5 diesel project as a non runner with a partly stripped engine and being supplied a replacement engine when I picked it up I have no idea as to the history and what the previous owner did with the injection pump.
The diesel pump on the original engine was missing, seller has since told me he thinks he removed the injection pump off the original engine and fitted it to the replacement engine ready to install.
However I cannot be sure this is the case so my question is if the injection pump on the engine is not the original one for the car, will I get any warning or informational messages on the dash?
If not is there a way to tell?
I'm assuming if I crack one of the injector unions and I get diesel coming out then the pump is not disabled and engine should start (providing the rest of it is back together properly)
