Does one have to use new stretch type bolts when replacing the head gasket on a p 38 diesel 1995 or can one get away with reusing the old ones if cleaned off and torqued down all equal as tight as You Know What?

Only ever use stretch bolts once. Once they have been used they cannot be tightened down properly ever again and potentially could fail/snap.

I'd always advocate new bolts...and stretch bolts can only be used once!
