Hi everyone I have been offered a nice L322 TD6 with a rubbish engine and of course the price reflects this, can anyone give me a clue of a good engine to put back in maybe a big american engine as long as its diesel the more powerful the better.

Another Td6 and chip it would be the easiest option, otherwise you may need to be an electronics guru. also if the new EU MOT rules are fully implemented it will fail as a non standard vehicle with a non standard engine. The days of doing what you fancy are over soon, click your heals and salute.

Finally, the auto box will not stand more power, it's fragile with the standard diesel engine.

As Data Guru above mentions, not worth the hasel IMO.

even if the engine fitted theres too many wiring systems to get to work.

not just a simple engine....countless ECU's and Canbus systems.

fit another engine if the car is cheap enough.

good engines and pretty nippy once chipped up.

whats up with the original engine then ? not repairable ?

The chipped td6 will pull a house down. Do 115 mph
Tow 3.5 ton
It's awesome.
And do an average of 25 to 28 mpg
I would like to see any American 4x4 try and beet the l322 in a tug of war.

Of course if I were being pedantic I'd point out that the auto box could take much more power - more torque on the other hand would be disastrous! :p :D
