Hi all after owning my landrover defender TD5 a month or so I'm really liking it, but as I suppected owning a Land Rover would require me to invest some money on it. I got it quite cheap probably £2+ k cheaper than some are making but it has high mileage nearly 200k, but I am willing in the near future to spend some money on it, the latest issue I've become a bit paranoid about id the diesel clatter engine noise, it's at lower revs and worse when cold and when I'm say drive 30ish in town.
Ive read a lot of things it could be from injector loom (doubtful as its firing correctly) injector adjustment or the expensive one new injectors. It's not really bad but after trying to listen to ones on YouTube they sound quieter but it hard to hear properly through videos, so my main question is from your experience what the most likely thing it could be? Also if it was injectors is there a cheaper way than buying new, like getting mine reconditioned?. My plan was always to work my way through the defender and replace what needs doing mechanically, when that's done sort out the cosmetic bits than the added extras, it will certainty be a working progress, but I'm liking it and plan to keep it a very long time. Thanks in advance.
